Therapy For Trauma

What happened to you may be in the past, but your mind and body may still be responding as though it isn't.

Therapy for trauma (PTSD and complex trauma) at Mind Embody Psychotherapy offers a compassionate, collaborative space to process painful experiences and begin healing. Together, we work to gently untangle the impact of trauma on your body, emotions, relationships, and sense of self. Using evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches, we move at your pace to help you feel safer in your own skin, reduce symptoms like anxiety, nightmares, or emotional numbness, and reconnect with your strengths. Our work centers your lived experience, honors your identities, and supports you in building a life that feels more grounded, empowered, and whole.

You survived it. Now you deserve a space to heal from it.

Mind Embody Psychotherapy provides virtual trauma therapy to adults throughout New York who are navigating the lasting effects of trauma, complex trauma, difficult childhood experiences, and attachment wounds. Together, we work to understand how past experiences may still be showing up in your thoughts, emotions, body, and relationships. Using trauma-informed approaches and EMDR when appropriate, we’ll work toward processing what you’ve experienced, strengthening your sense of safety, and helping you feel more connected to yourself in the present.

Our Approach

An evidenced-based therapeutic approach that targets the "stuck" parts of traumatic memories and how they show up in your present. With an 8-phase protocol, we work to "desensitize" the emotional, physical and mental intensity of the memory.

EMDR Therapy

We Go Slow

Trauma can develop when we experience something too fast, too soon, and it throws us into destabilization. Going slow helps us re-attune your nervous system, and gradually move you from survival mode to presence.

We Prioritize Safety

Healing begins when safety is present -- physically, emotionally, and mentally. Safety in the therapeutic space means you feel comfortable enough to go to the scary places with your therapist, and begin to trust you'll make it through.

We Teach Grounding & Regulation Skills

A dysregulated nervous system is either chronically in fight or flight, or stuck in freeze, fawn, or dissociation. We work together and develop skills that bring you back to balance and presence.

We Support Curiosity & Change

Trauma can alter one's sense of self/identity. Through our collaborative trauma-focused work, we gently sift through internalized shame and guilt with self-compassion and curiosity to support meaningful change.
